Chandanotsavam is scheduled to be held on the 26th of this month. In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic and the National Lockdown being extended till 3rd May, Simhachalam Devasthanam Chair Person Mr.Sanchaita Gajapati Raju has directed the temple staff that this Year Annual Chandotsavam Ceremony will be Conducted without allowing any devotees into the temple.
It has been decided that the festival, and religious rituals, this year will be performed by fifteen Archakas and temple staff. This has been conveyed in a press note released by the Executive Officer of the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha (SVLN) Devasthanam in Simhachalam. Under these circumstances, the live transmission of the ceremony will be provided on YouTube.
Every Year Generally the Temple expects at least 2 Lakh Piligrams on a Single day itself, but Since the National, Lockdown has been in Place the Devasthanam has decided not to allow devotees to visit the Simhachalam Temple during the Chandanotsvam ceremony. This is an effective measure in the national objective of preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
All the Temples in the State have been Closed since 20th March on the Account of Lockdown and it is to be noted that this is the First Time in Decades that the temple has been closed for the general public on Chandotsavam.
The Lockdown today has been further extended to May 3rd with relaxations coming in from the 20th of this month for Non-Red Zone Areas.
