The chief priest-in-charge of Simhachalam Temple, Godavarti Gopalakrishnamacharyulu, was suspended by the Simhachalam Devasthanam on Tuesday, as the Priest has allowed an Outsider to Come in during the Eve of Chandanotsavam.
This was the First time in the History of Simhachalam that the Temple has been closed for devotees on the eve of Chandanotsavam, this Decision was taken by the Temple Authorities in the view of the Covid-19, also abiding by the rules passed by the Government.
The Simhachalam Temple Executive Officer (EO), M Venkateswara Rao, informed that the man tried to step inside the temple to Offer Prayers for the Deity with the Help of the Chief Priest, Following a Probe into this issue, the Priest in Chief has been suspended from Service inside the temple.
However, in his Defense, the Chief Priest has told that he has not helped the Man to get Inside and Has requested the EO to get a new probe into the matter as in spite of the tight security he has entered the Temple, and he's been made a scapegoat.
